In a previous blog, we discussed the legal implications of a fully-automated car. The car will also have social impacts.
The social impacts from fully-automated cars range from every-day activities to how cities are built in the future. Driving to the grocery store, delivering a pizza or going for a leisurely drive would be a new experience. Will social interactions between people be impacted if they had more time to think in the car rather than concentrate on the road ahead? What would be the impact on pedestrian/bicycle/motorcycle/motor vehicle accident occurrences? Unfortunately, this could also increase the need for auto accident lawyers and personal injury law firms.
It is apparent that there will be endless consequences to legislative, liability and social areas due to the progress of technology. Just as we expect these technologies to evolve, we can expect social issues surrounding them to evolve as well.
